A World on Fire: Life & Death in a New Orleans Squat

A beautifully written and heartwrenching article by the mother of a traveling kid, about a group of young people who died in a terrible fire in New Orleans. This is a community so rarely documented by the media, and almost never in a sympathetic way. In light of that, this article stands as a particularly important piece.
I also highly recommend reading the comments, many are from friends and families of the victims. Comment #13, in particular, highlights how these deaths could have been avoided with systemic changes to squatters rights.
